MTN’s StarEdge Horizon connectivity service can now be purchased on the Amazon Web Services (AWS) Marketplace, the company said Thursday.
StarEdge Horizon is a Low-Earth Orbit (LEO) satellite connectivity architecture designed to enhance latency and security by routing traffic off the public internet. Under the partnership between the two companies, customers will be able to send site traffic directly to their AWS virtual private clouds.
The agreement makes it the first satellite connectivity service of its kind available for one-click deployment, MTN said in a statement.
Customers can connect to StarEdge Horizon through a shared transit gateway attachment, which allows integration with AWS services and global deployment in under 24 hours, the company said. Its availability on AWS Marketplace will allow customers to quickly secure remote connectivity and pay through their existing AWS accounts, it said.
“StarEdge Horizon’s availability on AWS Marketplace is a crucial step in transforming LEO connectivity into an easily procurable, enterprise-grade networking solution in just a few clicks,” MTN Director of Engineering Brian Govanlu said. “Our Layer 2 architecture, combined with the streamlined purchasing and cloud integration of AWS Marketplace, gives customers the fastest, most secure, and most cost-effective way to extend their cloud environment to any remote site in the world.”
The statement also noted that StarEdge on AWS Marketplace would feature centralized internet access under one security policy and true static IP addressing and subnet allocation.
Last month, Amazon Leo, Amazon’s LEO satellite constellation, signed an agreement with MTN to make it one of its first authorized resellers in the maritime market. MTN also became an authorized reseller of Starlink to government and defense clients.
